Hello, my name is Ashley Jackson, I want to introduce myself. I have my Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and I am currently working on my PhD in Counselor of Education and Supervision. I am originally from Spokane, WA but have found home now in Austin, TX. I love to promote and bring awareness to the mental health community in the hope to make a difference in the stigma. I am an advocate for animal-assisted therapy, especially within the counseling field. I have several certifications in animal-assisted therapy and canine communication. In practice, I mainly use a humanistic approach to counseling while incorporating animal-assisted therapy as a tool. I believe in meeting the client where they are at, and that the client is the expert in their own lives. I know counseling can be intimidating, that is why I love to promote a calm and trusting environment for my clients. I believe my therapy dog Brenda helps with this as well. Brenda and I look forward to meeting with you.
